Prices in the “Ukraine” column come from MediUkraine’s partner clinics. The Czech Republic and Turkey columns show the lower bounds of prices published by clinics there (for Turkey, also the Turkish Dental Association’s recommended 2026 tariff), collected in August 2026 and converted to US dollars at the rate on the day of collection. A dash means we could not find a comparable published price. In any country, the final cost is set by the clinic after an examination.
Travel. Ukrainian airspace is closed, so there are no commercial flights. Uzhhorod lies right on the border with Slovakia and close to Hungary, so patients usually arrive overland from one of these two countries, by car, bus or train.
Visas. Citizens of the EU, the United Kingdom and the United States do not need a visa for short stays in Ukraine. Rules depend on your citizenship, so check your own before booking.
Safety, plainly. Ukraine is at war. Air raid alerts occur across the country, including in Uzhhorod, and an appointment can be interrupted by one. Several governments advise against travel to Ukraine, and while that advice stands, ordinary travel and medical insurance is often void — confirm your cover with your insurer before you commit to anything.
Language. MediUkraine handles correspondence, scheduling, the written treatment plan and the quote in English. The clinic's team communicates with international patients in English.
Payment. You pay the clinic directly. Our coordination service is free of charge for you.

Treatment methods for prostate adenoma are chosen individually, taking into account the size of the prostate, your age, coexisting conditions and the severity of symptoms. The main strategies are medication, minimally invasive procedures (REZUM, HoLEP), endoscopic surgery (TURP) and, in exceptional cases, open surgery. Surgery is usually indicated for progressive symptoms, ineffective medication, urinary retention or a high risk of complications.
The core method at Ukrainian clinics remains transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP): the surgeon removes the excess prostate tissue through the urethra and restores normal urine flow. It gives quick symptom relief, minimal blood loss and a short recovery period. The alternative is HoLEP, laser enucleation of the hyperplastic tissue, which is then removed from the bladder; this option is suitable even for a very large gland.
REZUM uses the energy of water vapour to destroy hyperplastic prostate tissue. The procedure takes a few minutes and does not require a hospital stay, and the effect builds up gradually over several weeks. This option is considered for patients with mild or moderate adenoma who want to avoid surgery.
In complex cases, or if cancer is suspected, laparoscopic prostatectomy may be needed. In most cases, however, minimally invasive methods solve the problem with minimal intervention and a quick return to your normal routine.
Discharge does not end treatment: next comes a period of monitoring on which the result depends. In the first days you may feel slight discomfort when urinating, pressure or frequent urges; this is a normal response of the body. Return to your usual activities gradually, but avoid physical overexertion and sitting for long periods during the first 1–2 weeks. You can drive after a few days at the earliest, if you feel well and are not taking strong painkillers.
When you can go back to work depends on how demanding it is. With a desk job 5–7 days are enough; with physical work it sometimes takes up to 2–3 weeks. The urologist makes the final decision about returning to full activity at the follow-up examination.
Keep up light physical activity every day: short walks improve circulation and speed up healing. Swimming, the gym and sexual activity only once the doctor agrees. Drink enough water, eat a balanced diet and avoid alcohol, smoking, hot baths and saunas. If you develop a fever, severe pain, difficulty urinating or blood in the urine, contact the clinic immediately for an examination.
Besides the symptoms of hyperplasia, the choice of technique also takes a man's reproductive plans into account. For patients planning to have children, it is important that the procedure does not affect sperm quality or erection. Most minimally invasive operations, such as HoLEP, REZUM or TURP, preserve erectile function when performed correctly, but after TURP and HoLEP retrograde ejaculation is common, which makes natural conception harder.
The optimal method is chosen individually. Before the operation, the urologist may recommend a semen analysis and tests for testosterone and other hormones. If the risk of retrograde ejaculation is high (for example, after TURP), the doctor discusses the possible consequences with you and offers alternatives. If you are planning children within the next year, it is sometimes advisable to postpone the procedure or bank sperm, as recommended by the specialist.
How long it takes for full sexual function to return depends on the method. After REZUM and laser enucleation (HoLEP), activity returns gradually, usually over several weeks. During rehabilitation it is important to avoid overexertion and follow the urologist's recommendations.
Not every patient needs surgery straight away. If symptoms are moderate and fertility is a priority, the doctor may recommend conservative treatment with regular monitoring. The decision is made after a prostate ultrasound and tests, taking your reproductive plans into account.
When planning prostate adenoma treatment, consider not only the cost of the operation itself but also the total expenses: accommodation, transfers, tests, medicines and post-operative follow-up. In most cases a trip to Ukraine works out more cost-effective: the organisation is simpler, consultations, diagnostics and surgery take place in one centre, and the hospital stay lasts only 1–2 days.
Why are prices lower in Ukraine? First, the cost of medical services (bed-days, consumables, rent, salaries) is noticeably lower than in the EU or Turkey. Second, competition between private clinics produces transparent package offers with no hidden costs. Third, minimally invasive technology means a shorter hospital stay, which directly affects the final amount.
At the same time, the level of risk is kept low: private clinics work according to international protocols, provide anaesthetic support, follow the principles of infection control and monitor patients after discharge. Experienced urologists perform HoLEP, TURP and REZUM routinely, with predictable results and a low complication rate.
Key factors behind the affordable cost in Ukraine:
▪ lower cost of hospital stays, consumables and rent
▪ transparent package offers and strong competition in the private sector
▪ a short hospital stay thanks to minimally invasive technology and quick recovery

Prostate adenoma is a benign enlargement of the prostate gland that over time leads to urination problems, frequent night-time urges and a feeling that the bladder has not emptied completely. Treatment aims to relieve these symptoms and improve quality of life.
The price of TURP starts from USD 560. The exact amount depends on the chosen technique, the scope of the procedure and the clinic. MediUkraine helps you get a transparent cost estimate with no hidden costs.
Citizens of most European countries, the UK, the USA, Canada and some others do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days.
A return to everyday life is possible within 5–7 days of the operation. Sport, sexual activity and physical exertion come after the follow-up examination, usually after 2–3 weeks.
Most modern methods, especially HoLEP and REZUM, preserve erectile function. Some techniques can cause retrograde ejaculation: potency is not affected, but natural conception becomes harder. If you are planning to have children, tell the urologist before the method is chosen.
