Prices in the “Ukraine” column come from MediUkraine’s partner clinics. The Czech Republic and Turkey columns show the lower bounds of prices published by clinics there (for Turkey, also the Turkish Dental Association’s recommended 2026 tariff), collected in August 2026 and converted to US dollars at the rate on the day of collection. A dash means we could not find a comparable published price. In any country, the final cost is set by the clinic after an examination.
Mentoplasty works with the projection of the chin: how far it sticks out relative to the rest of the profile. There are three groups of techniques: augmentation adds volume with an implant, reduction removes bone tissue, and combined techniques pair the correction with bite correction or laser treatment. The course of the operation and the recovery time depend on what you need: more projection or removal of excess.
The method is chosen according to the type of face, the original shape of the chin, age and the condition of the soft tissues. The operation is performed under local or general anaesthesia; the incision is small and runs under the chin or inside the mouth, so the scar remains barely noticeable.
The first changes are visible once the swelling subsides, after about 2–3 weeks, and the contour fully stabilises within 3–6 months. A correctly performed correction affects more than appearance: it can improve airway patency and the bite.
MediUkraine coordinates every stage, from the first consultation to the follow-up check.
Travel. Ukrainian airspace is closed, so there are no commercial flights. Uzhhorod lies right on the border with Slovakia and close to Hungary, so patients usually arrive overland from one of these two countries, by car, bus or train.
Visas. Citizens of the EU, the United Kingdom and the United States do not need a visa for short stays in Ukraine. Rules depend on your citizenship, so check your own before booking.
Safety, plainly. Ukraine is at war. Air raid alerts occur across the country, including in Uzhhorod, and an appointment can be interrupted by one. Several governments advise against travel to Ukraine, and while that advice stands, ordinary travel and medical insurance is often void — confirm your cover with your insurer before you commit to anything.
Language. MediUkraine handles correspondence, scheduling, the written treatment plan and the quote in English. The clinic's team communicates with international patients in English.
Payment. You pay the clinic directly. Our coordination service is free of charge for you.

Surgical chin augmentation is the main method for correcting insufficient projection. The surgeon creates a pocket in the tissues and places an implant made of silicone, polyethylene or another synthetic material in it, fixing it in the right position. This changes the shape, length and width of the chin; the implant is well tolerated by the tissues, and the result lasts a long time.
Bone surgery (osteoplasty) is needed for significant anatomical defects or when the position of the lower jaw needs to be changed. The surgeon moves bone tissue, builds up or reshapes the chin bone. The procedure is more invasive than the previous one but gives a stable result and is often combined with orthognathic surgery.
Injectable correction is an option for small changes: hyaluronic acid fillers or biostimulators. The procedure is non-invasive and done on an outpatient basis, but it needs to be repeated every 12–18 months. It is often chosen by people who want to ‘try on’ a new profile before surgery.
The MediUkraine platform arranges a consultation at which the surgeon agrees the method with you before you arrive.
Recovery after the operation takes 1 to 3 weeks, depending on the extent of the procedure and your body's characteristics. In the first few days there is swelling and there may be minor bruising in the chin area: this is how the tissues react to surgical trauma.
The first week is spent taking things easy: no physical exertion, hot baths or saunas, and it is better to sleep with your head raised, as this reduces swelling. The stitches are cleaned with an antiseptic every day as instructed by the surgeon. The speed of healing depends both on the surgical technique and on how precisely you follow the instructions.
In the second or third week most patients return to work and their usual cosmetic routines. Residual swelling may take up to 2–3 months to go down, and the final result is visible after 6–12 months. The surgeon who performs the operation sets out the recovery regime for you in detail and stays in touch after discharge.
A natural result starts with the indications. Correction is performed for an underdeveloped chin area, excessive forward projection or deformities after injuries. Sometimes it is combined with rhinoplasty or other procedures, when the whole profile needs balancing rather than a single point of it.
The incision runs inside the mouth or under the chin, so the scar is barely noticeable. From there, there are three scenarios: a silicone implant for augmentation, moving bone tissue to change the projection, or reduction for hypertrophy. The operation itself takes 30–60 minutes.
MediUkraine arranges a consultation with a plastic surgeon at which the plan for chin correction is discussed.
Mentoplasty in Ukraine is cheaper mainly because of the difference in operating costs. Ukrainian clinics spend less on maintaining medical equipment and on staff pay without compromising the quality of care. This is why they keep competitive prices without compromising on safety or results.
The second reason is the absence of the surcharges that clinics abroad build in for international patients: extended administrative handling, currency conversion and intermediary services. Direct arrangements between the clinic and the patient through MediUkraine shorten the chain of intermediaries, and this shows immediately in the final amount.
The third factor is everyday costs: accommodation and food during rehabilitation in Ukraine cost considerably less than in Europe or North America. Together with post-operative support, the full course works out noticeably cheaper for both international and Ukrainian patients.
In most cases, yes: it is a planned procedure performed according to international plastic surgery protocols. Surgeons work through small incisions and avoid unnecessary tissue trauma, which lowers the risk of complications.
The technique (implant or bone) is chosen to suit the anatomy of the face and your expectations. Anaesthesia can be general or local, so even people with increased sensitivity tolerate the operation. As with any surgery, risks remain, and the surgeon goes through them at the consultation before the procedure, where what to do in each scenario is also discussed.
Ukrainian clinics follow strict rules of sterility and post-operative care. You receive clear recommendations on diet, hygiene and physical activity, and most patients return to normal life within 7–10 days.
Before you decide, it is worth checking the clinic's licence and the surgeon's documents confirming specialist training, and at the consultation asking to see the results of similar cases. MediUkraine checks these documents on your behalf.

📍 Uzhhorod, Ukraine
A multidisciplinary hospital in Uzhhorod, part of a network of medical facilities in western Ukraine: an outpatient clinic, a surgical centre covering 15 specialties and a 30-bed inpatient unit. Its 52 doctors include professors and PhDs; many operations are done as day surgery, with discharge after 1–2 days.
Chin surgery, or mentoplasty, is an aesthetic operation that changes the shape, size or projection of the chin. Its aim is to balance the profile and define the jawline. It is performed under local or general anaesthesia through a small incision, after which recovery takes 1–3 weeks.
The price depends on the method (implant or bone correction), the complexity of the procedure, the type of anaesthesia and the length of the clinic stay. The first step is a plastic surgeon consultation at the partner clinic, from USD 23. The doctor sets out the plan and its cost after the examination, and MediUkraine helps you get an estimate before you travel.
Reasons for a consultation include facial asymmetry, a chin that is too small or, conversely, too prominent, an unbalanced profile, or a wish to emphasise the contour of the lower face. The operation is also considered after injuries and as part of comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
First comes a consultation with a plastic surgeon and basic tests: a full blood count, blood chemistry, a coagulation panel and an ECG. A few days before the procedure, give up alcohol and smoking; medicines that affect blood clotting are stopped only as agreed with the doctor who prescribed them. The doctor gives the remaining recommendations on diet and care individually.
No: the operation is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, nor with acute illnesses or flare-ups of chronic ones. The surgeon makes the final decision after an examination and tests: these show whether surgery can go ahead now or whether it is better to wait.
The duration depends on the extent of the procedure and your individual characteristics. Usually swelling and bruising in the chin area persist for the first 7–10 days and gradually subside over 2–3 weeks. During this time physical exertion is limited, a special diet is followed and a compression bandage is worn to support the soft tissues.
Full healing and stabilisation of the result take 1–2 months. Most of the swelling goes by week 3–4, and residual puffiness by week 6–8. By this stage most patients have returned to their usual lifestyle and light exercise. It is important to clean the incision as instructed by the surgeon and to protect the surgical area from knocks. The operating surgeon draws up an individual rehabilitation schedule and stays in touch at every stage of treatment.
The operation corrects the consequence, not the cause. If the chin deformity arose from an injury, cancer treatment or developmental features, the procedure removes the cosmetic defect but does not affect the underlying condition. For example, with microgenia (an underdeveloped chin) linked to genetic factors, the surgeon will change the shape and size of the chin, but the genetic features will not go away.
The result itself, on the other hand, is considered permanent: after a successful correction the appearance of the chin lasts a long time, as long as you follow the care recommendations and avoid injuring the surgical area. MediUkraine arranges a consultation with a surgeon who will review your case at the consultation and tell you which goals are realistically achievable and which are not.
Tell us what you need: we will suggest a clinic and a doctor and send you a cost estimate.
