Prices in the “Ukraine” column come from MediUkraine’s partner clinics. The Czech Republic and Turkey columns show the lower bounds of prices published by clinics there (for Turkey, also the Turkish Dental Association’s recommended 2026 tariff), collected in August 2026 and converted to US dollars at the rate on the day of collection. A dash means we could not find a comparable published price. In any country, the final cost is set by the clinic after an examination.
During sleep the throat muscles relax, the airway narrows, and the airflow starts to vibrate the soft tissues: this is snoring. When the airway closes completely, breathing stops for a few seconds: this is apnoea. That is why treatment targets not the sound itself but the area where the airway closes: the soft palate, the uvula, the throat or the nasal septum. Diagnostics show what exactly is narrowed and how severe the apnoea is, and the choice of technique depends on these results.
The key advantage of minimally invasive techniques is limited tissue trauma and quick recovery. Laser palate correction or radiofrequency treatment needs no hospital stay and in suitable patients noticeably reduces snoring. In sleep apnoea, a correctly fitted CPAP device prevents night-time pauses in breathing and helps normalise oxygen levels and general well-being.
During the procedure the doctor removes the narrowing or excess soft tissue in the throat, palate or uvula that obstructs the airflow. Laser and radiofrequency procedures are done without incisions, under local anaesthesia, and take 20–40 minutes. Whether they suit you depends on your anatomy and the results of the examination.
Snoring and apnoea affect not only the quality of rest but also the cardiovascular system: the consequences include high blood pressure, heart attack and chronic fatigue. With such complaints people see an ENT specialist or a sleep specialist: the doctor takes a medical history, orders polysomnography and an endoscopic examination of the airway and decides on treatment based on the results.
Travel. Ukrainian airspace is closed, so there are no commercial flights. Uzhhorod lies right on the border with Slovakia and close to Hungary, so patients usually arrive overland from one of these two countries, by car, bus or train.
Visas. Citizens of the EU, the United Kingdom and the United States do not need a visa for short stays in Ukraine. Rules depend on your citizenship, so check your own before booking.
Safety, plainly. Ukraine is at war. Air raid alerts occur across the country, including in Uzhhorod, and an appointment can be interrupted by one. Several governments advise against travel to Ukraine, and while that advice stands, ordinary travel and medical insurance is often void — confirm your cover with your insurer before you commit to anything.
Language. MediUkraine handles correspondence, scheduling, the written treatment plan and the quote in English. The clinic's team communicates with international patients in English.
Payment. You pay the clinic directly. Our coordination service is free of charge for you.

The method is chosen according to the cause of the breathing problem, the severity of the symptoms and your general health. The main options are conservative therapy, device-based treatment (CPAP therapy), minimally invasive procedures (laser or radiofrequency) and, in complex cases, surgical removal of anatomical obstructions in the airway. The treatment plan is decided by an ENT specialist or sleep specialist based on the examination results.
A common option in Ukraine is laser or radiofrequency correction of the soft palate and uvula: the doctor removes excess tissue that obstructs the airflow. The procedure causes little tissue trauma, takes about 20–40 minutes and needs no hospital stay; in suitable patients snoring becomes noticeably quieter.
Another option is CPAP therapy: a device maintains constant air pressure in the airway during sleep and stops it from closing. It is considered the gold standard for moderate and severe sleep apnoea because it prevents night-time pauses in breathing without surgery.
For marked anatomical changes, surgery is recommended: uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, septal reconstruction or removal of the tonsils. In suitable cases, minimally invasive techniques reduce snoring with a short recovery period, while the choice of treatment for apnoea depends on its severity and the level of obstruction.
The doctor's work does not end with the procedure itself: a period of follow-up comes next. In the first days you may have a scratchy throat, dryness or slight swelling of the mucosa: this is an expected reaction to the procedure. Return to your usual routine gradually, but avoid physical exertion, sudden movements and hot drinks for the first 7–10 days. Do not drive for 1–2 days after the procedure.
When you can return to work depends on the method and on you as an individual. After laser or radiofrequency correction most patients recover within a few days, while after more complex procedures healing can take up to two weeks. The doctor makes the final assessment at the follow-up visit.
Keep to your usual daily routine: short walks in the fresh air improve circulation and help healing. In the first days avoid alcohol, smoking, hot baths and saunas, and do not eat very spicy or hot food. Drink enough water and follow the specialist's advice on sleep. If you develop a temperature, pain or difficulty breathing, contact the clinic promptly for an additional examination.
The aim of treating snoring and sleep apnoea is not only to stop the night-time noise but also to restore full breathing and deep rest. For patients with chronic fatigue, daytime sleepiness or headaches, it is important that the technique addresses the cause of apnoea without affecting breathing function or the voice. After minimally invasive procedures, including laser and radiofrequency ones, relief is often felt within a few days.
The best method is chosen individually. The ENT specialist may order polysomnography (an overnight sleep study), an endoscopic examination or functional tests. The results establish the severity of apnoea and determine the technique, from laser correction of the soft palate to surgical removal of the obstruction. If you are overweight or have particular features of the nasopharynx, the doctor may advise combined treatment or conservative therapy before surgery.
Not everyone needs surgery. For mild snoring or an early form of apnoea, the doctor may suggest a conservative approach: lifestyle changes, positional sleep therapy or device-based treatment (CPAP). The decision is made after a full examination and a consultation with an ENT specialist or sleep specialist.
When planning treatment for snoring or sleep apnoea, count not only the procedure itself but also diagnostics, consultations, accommodation, post-operative support and travel logistics. In Ukraine this total is lower because consultations, diagnostics and procedures cost less, and a hospital stay usually lasts only 1 day.
Why are prices lower? Mainly because of the lower cost of medical services and premises, as well as competition between private clinics. Most Ukrainian centres offer transparent package prices with no hidden costs, and the short course of treatment and quick recovery after minimally invasive procedures reduce the overall cost of the trip.
The lower price does not mean lower standards: clinics follow international ENT protocols and provide anaesthetic support, infection control and post-operative monitoring. Doctors are experienced in laser and radiofrequency procedures, and the protocol and checks at every stage make the result more predictable.
▪ lower cost of medical services, premises and consumables
▪ transparent package prices with no hidden payments
▪ a short recovery period thanks to minimally invasive techniques
Like any medical procedure, it carries some risk, but at a well-equipped clinic this risk is low. Private clinics in Ukraine work to European standards: anaesthetic support, airway control and monitoring of your condition during and after the procedure. They use modern laser, radiofrequency or surgical techniques that are minimally invasive and have a predictable result.
Most clinics have specialised ENT doctors and diagnostic systems for a full examination of the airway, assessment of the severity of apnoea and individual planning of the procedure.
When choosing a clinic, look at the number of procedures performed, the doctor's qualifications, adherence to international protocols, the transparency of the quote, patient reviews, post-operative care and the quality of communication with patients.

📍 Uzhhorod, Ukraine
A multidisciplinary hospital in Uzhhorod, part of a network of medical facilities in western Ukraine: an outpatient clinic, a surgical centre covering 15 specialties and a 30-bed inpatient unit. Its 52 doctors include professors and PhDs; many operations are done as day surgery, with discharge after 1–2 days.
Snoring is vibration of the soft tissues of the throat during sleep, which indicates partial obstruction of the airway. Sleep apnoea is a more serious condition in which breathing stops for seconds or minutes, leading to oxygen deficiency, headaches, chronic fatigue and a risk of cardiovascular complications.
The first step is a consultation with an otolaryngologist at the partner clinic, from USD 20. The cost of further treatment depends on the chosen method and the tests required, so the doctor names the plan and the estimate after the examination. MediUkraine can help you get an estimate before you travel.
Patients from the EU, the UK, Turkey and many other countries do not need a visa for a short-term stay for treatment. Entry rules can change, so check the current requirements for your citizenship before the trip.
It is worth having an examination if you have chronic fatigue, daytime sleepiness or headaches, or if people close to you notice pauses in your breathing during sleep. The final decision is made by an ENT specialist or sleep specialist after diagnostics: polysomnography or an endoscopic examination of the airway.
Depending on the cause, laser or radiofrequency correction of the soft palate, surgical removal of the obstruction, septoplasty, CPAP therapy or combined approaches are used. All methods are performed in line with European protocols.
After minimally invasive procedures you return to normal life within 2–3 days. Full healing of the mucosa and normalisation of sleep usually take 1–2 weeks.
Laser procedures on the soft palate do not involve the vocal cords and are not intended to change the tone of the voice. Their aim is to improve sleep quality and general well-being; discuss the possible effects in your particular case with the doctor.
