Hair transplant costs in different countries

We compare the same operation: FUE hair transplantation. To make the amounts comparable, we convert them to the cost of one graft in US dollars at the official National Bank of Ukraine exchange rate. The figures come from clinics’ own published prices in each country, not calculated from the Ukrainian cost.

The per-graft figures are approximate. The Ukrainian clinic publishes a price per graft; for the other countries we divide the published price by the published number of grafts and convert the currencies at the official National Bank of Ukraine exchange rate. Both prices and exchange rates change, and the exact cost for your case is set by the doctor after an examination.

The Turkish package is “up to”, and this matters. It sets a maximum number of grafts, not the number you will actually receive: if you need fewer, the package price does not go down, so $0.74 is the most favourable case. The Ukrainian price is charged per graft transplanted and goes down as the volume grows. At 2,000 grafts, the Turkish package already works out at about $1.48 per graft. The UK price covers the surgery only, while the Turkish one also includes accommodation and transfer. The final cost for your case is set by the doctor after an examination.

Questions and answers

How much hair loss is normal?

Losing up to a hundred hairs a day is considered normal: hair is constantly renewing itself. It is worth getting checked if you are losing noticeably more, your hairline has started to recede, or your hair has become thinner all over your head.

Is a transplant always necessary?

No. A transplant is needed where the follicles have already been lost. If hair loss is still ongoing, the cause is addressed first; otherwise the transplanted hair will end up among hair that keeps falling out.

What is the difference between FUE and DHI?

These are two hair transplant techniques. They differ in how the follicles are extracted and implanted, and therefore in duration, price and how quickly the area heals. The doctor chooses the method after an examination.

How long does it take to see results?

Hair grows slowly: the first changes are assessed after a few months, and the final result later still. Any promise of “results in a week” is a reason to be cautious.
