| Surgical removal of adenoids (adenoidectomy) | from USD 318 | from USD 350 | from USD 400 |
Prices in the “Ukraine” column come from MediUkraine’s partner clinics. The Czech Republic and Turkey columns show the lower bounds of prices published by clinics there (for Turkey, also the Turkish Dental Association’s recommended 2026 tariff), collected in August 2026 and converted to US dollars at the rate on the day of collection. A dash means we could not find a comparable published price. In any country, the final cost is set by the clinic after an examination.
Adenoiditis in children is inflammation of the lymphoid tissue in the nasopharynx. This tissue enlarges in response to frequent upper respiratory infections and gradually blocks the nasal passages, so the child breathes through the mouth, sleeps restlessly and gets ear infections more often. The doctor chooses between two approaches: conservative treatment in the early stages, and surgery when symptoms persist and do not respond to medication over 3–6 months.
The conservative approach includes topical corticosteroids, antihistamines, nasal rinses and physiotherapy. It is appropriate for first- and second-degree enlargement without frequent complications. However, for recurrent sinusitis, middle ear infections and obstructive sleep apnoea, adenoidectomy, the removal of adenoid tissue, is indicated.
Surgical techniques such as the microdebrider and coblation cause little tissue trauma, reduce blood loss and shorten recovery. The great majority of children return to their normal routine within 1–2 weeks.
Through MediUkraine you can book ENT specialists and paediatricians at the partner clinic in Uzhhorod, who offer the full range of diagnosis and treatment of adenoids, from a thorough examination to surgery.
Travel. Ukrainian airspace is closed, so there are no commercial flights. Uzhhorod lies right on the border with Slovakia and close to Hungary, so patients usually arrive overland from one of these two countries, by car, bus or train.
Visas. Citizens of the EU, the United Kingdom and the United States do not need a visa for short stays in Ukraine. Rules depend on your citizenship, so check your own before booking.
Safety, plainly. Ukraine is at war. Air raid alerts occur across the country, including in Uzhhorod, and an appointment can be interrupted by one. Several governments advise against travel to Ukraine, and while that advice stands, ordinary travel and medical insurance is often void — confirm your cover with your insurer before you commit to anything.
Language. MediUkraine handles correspondence, scheduling, the written treatment plan and the quote in English. The clinic's team communicates with international patients in English.
Payment. You pay the clinic directly. Our coordination service is free of charge for you.

The approach is chosen according to the degree of enlargement and the symptoms. Conservative treatment is used in the early stages and includes rinsing the nasopharynx with saline, intranasal corticosteroids and antihistamines. This approach works particularly well when there is inflammatory swelling and an allergic component. Regular cleansing of the upper airways reduces the microbial load on the mucosa and the swelling of the tissue.
If conservative treatment does not work within 3–6 months, or the obstruction is severe, adenoidectomy, the surgical removal of adenoid tissue, is considered. The operation is performed under general anaesthesia, with endoscopic guidance and specialist instruments. Indications include obstructive sleep apnoea, low blood oxygen during sleep, recurrent ear infections and persistent sinusitis caused by obstruction of the nasopharynx.
At MediUkraine we arrange for parents to see ENT specialists at the partner clinic in Uzhhorod, where the treatment method is chosen according to the child's age, the severity of the condition and other factors.
Recovery after adenoid removal usually takes 1–2 weeks, but the tissues of the nasopharynx heal fully over 3–4 weeks. In the first few days the child may have mild throat discomfort, a slight rise in temperature and inflammation at the surgical site. Proper care during this period reduces the risk of complications and speeds up healing.
For the first few days, the diet consists of soft, cool foods such as yoghurt, ice cream and purées. Hot dishes, spicy food and acidic citrus juices are avoided. The child needs to drink enough fluids, such as water, stewed fruit drinks or warm tea with honey. The voice should be rested as much as possible, and walks outdoors are gradually lengthened from the third day.
Medicines prescribed by the doctor, such as antibiotics, painkillers and gargles, are taken exactly as scheduled. If signs of infection appear (a temperature above 38.5°C, pus-like discharge, increasing pain), contact a specialist immediately. MediUkraine coordinates consultations with the ENT doctor and keeps track of your child's recovery.
Adenoids are lymphoid tissue in the nasopharynx that is the first to meet respiratory infections and enlarges with frequent inflammation. Enlarged tissue interferes with nasal breathing and affects the child's sleep and hearing, so the approach is chosen individually: according to the degree of enlargement, any complications and the response to conservative treatment. Through MediUkraine you can book ENT doctors at the partner clinic in Uzhhorod, who will examine your child thoroughly.
Conservative treatment involves local and systemic medicines: topical corticosteroids, antihistamines, saline nasal rinses and immunomodulators. This approach is indicated in the early stages of adenoid enlargement and in many cases removes the need for surgery. The course lasts 3–6 months with regular check-ups.
Through MediUkraine you will get a consultation with an experienced ENT doctor, a detailed assessment and advice on the best treatment for your child.
Adenoid treatment in Ukraine costs less than at European clinics, mainly because of the difference in the cost of providing medical services. An adenoidectomy at Ukrainian specialist centres costs 40–60% of the price of the same procedure at clinics in Poland, the Czech Republic or Germany. This does not mean compromising on quality: surgeons work with modern equipment and follow established treatment protocols, but without a premium for the clinic's brand or the influence of high European market prices.
In addition, Ukraine does not have the long waiting lists for planned tests and surgery found in many European countries. Your child can be diagnosed and operated on quickly, which matters especially when adenoid inflammation is frequent. MediUkraine helps parents book experienced ENT doctors at the partner clinic in Uzhhorod and agree the schedule of procedures and the specialist consultation without excessive organisational costs.
Adenoid removal uses minimally invasive techniques, including endoscopic approaches and microdebriders. You can get an estimate of the cost and timing before you travel.
Adenoid treatment for children follows established clinical protocols. Endoscopic diagnosis and minimally invasive methods of removing adenoid tissue cause less tissue trauma and shorten recovery. All procedures are carried out under the guidance of diagnostic equipment, in sterile conditions and with antibiotic prophylaxis where needed.
The standard of care includes mandatory pre-operative assessment (endoscopy and, if needed, a CT scan), anaesthesia by qualified specialists and professional perioperative care. The partner clinic of MediUkraine works in line with the requirements of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for operating theatre equipment, staff qualifications and medical records.
MediUkraine coordinates consultations with the doctor and paperwork, and gives you detailed information about the course of treatment, so the terms are clear before it begins.

📍 Uzhhorod, Ukraine

Adenoids are lymphoid tissue in the nasopharynx that helps protect a child's body from infection. With frequent colds or allergies, they enlarge and make nasal breathing difficult.
The cost depends on the degree of inflammation and the treatment method, conservative or endoscopic. Surgical removal of adenoids costs from USD 318, which is much lower than in EU countries.
If your child constantly breathes through the mouth, snores in their sleep, has a long-lasting runny nose without a temperature or does not hear as well, it is time to book an appointment with an ENT doctor.
Before the procedure, the doctor examines the child and orders tests to assess the condition of the mucosa and rule out contraindications. No special preparation is usually needed.
During acute inflammation, procedures are postponed. The doctor first treats the inflammation and then prescribes the main treatment.
If conservative treatment does not help and the child still has difficulty breathing, snores or has frequent ear infections, the doctor may recommend endoscopic adenoidectomy.
In most cases the symptoms of enlarged adenoids can be relieved completely, but both the treatment and the outcome depend on the degree of enlargement and the symptoms.
In the great majority of children, adenoid tissue gradually shrinks with age and becomes smaller on its own by adolescence. If the adenoids seriously affect breathing or cause recurrent ear infections or sleep apnoea, surgical removal (adenoidectomy) is recommended. It is a common ENT operation; the result usually lasts, although in some children the adenoid tissue grows back, so follow-up visits are needed.
Medication (antivirals, antibiotics, steroid nasal sprays) mainly reduces inflammation and symptoms but does not make the enlarged tissue shrink completely. The approach is decided by the ENT doctor based on the examination and individual indications; only a doctor can predict the outcome for a particular child after seeing them in person. The MediUkraine team will arrange a consultation with an experienced specialist to draw up a treatment plan for your child.
