Proctology in Ukraine

This section covers nine proctology services, from remote consultations to surgery. If you do not have a diagnosis yet, you can start with a remote consultation: the doctor will listen to your symptoms, look at any test results you already have and tell you what to do next — anoscopy, rectosigmoidoscopy or an in-person examination. Prices on the service pages are given in US dollars.

Where to start

Patients rarely search for the name of a procedure — they search for what bothers them every day. Choose the option closest to your situation.

Bleeding when you open your bowelsA common reason to see a proctologist — and a symptom you should not put off, because bleeding can have different causes. Assessment starts with an examination and anoscopy; if needed, the doctor orders a rectosigmoidoscopy.
Pain that makes it hard to sit and go to the toiletSharp pain during and after a bowel movement is more often linked to an anal fissure; constant, increasing pain with a fever — to a perianal abscess. They can only be told apart at an in-person examination.
A lump or swelling has appeared near the anusIt may be a haemorrhoid, a thrombosed haemorrhoid or another growth. What the doctor finds determines whether you need sclerotherapy, banding, laser treatment or monitoring. You feel awkward about an examination and want to talk firstA remote consultation lets you describe your symptoms, share the tests you have already had and hear which examination makes sense. No diagnosis is made at this stage — it is confirmed in person.

What determines the method and the price

What affects the scope of treatment and the cost
What is done for a fissure — The clinic lists surgical excision of the fissure from USD 210. The doctor decides what suits you after an examination.
Treatment method — For haemorrhoids, the section offers sclerotherapy from USD 122, banding from USD 108 and laser treatment from USD 334. The clinic lists local anaesthesia for all three.
Scope of the procedure — Removal of a single rectal polyp costs from USD 47, endoscopic removal of multiple polyps from USD 69. The number and location of growths become clear during the examination, not before it.
Anaesthesia — Most procedures in this section are done under local anaesthesia. General anaesthesia is listed only for rectal prolapse surgery, which affects both the preparation and the cost.
Whether you need tests before treatment — Anoscopy (from USD 9) and rectosigmoidoscopy (from USD 36) are priced separately. If you have not had them yet, they are added to the cost of treatment.
Packages — Some options already include a proctologist consultation: anoscopy with a consultation from USD 29, rectosigmoidoscopy with a consultation from USD 36.

Frequently asked questions

I live abroad. Can I start without travelling to Ukraine?
Yes, the section offers remote appointments: an online proctologist consultation from USD 18, a follow-up consultation from USD 16, and an extended consultation with a review of tests you have already had from USD 24. The doctor will advise which examination you need and whether it makes sense to plan a trip.
Can a diagnosis be made online?
No. Remotely, the doctor takes your history, looks at your existing medical reports and test results, and explains the next step. In proctology, a diagnosis is confirmed by an in-person examination and, if needed, anoscopy or rectosigmoidoscopy.
What is the difference between anoscopy and rectosigmoidoscopy?
They examine the bowel to different depths. Anoscopy takes 5–10 minutes and costs from USD 9; rectosigmoidoscopy takes 10–20 minutes and costs from USD 36. Both are done under local anaesthesia. Rectosigmoidoscopy with a biopsy, if indicated, costs from USD 59.
How long does haemorrhoid treatment take?
It depends on the method, and the doctor will tell you after an examination. The clinic lists local anaesthesia for haemorrhoid procedures. Banding costs from USD 108, sclerotherapy from USD 122 and laser treatment from USD 334. The doctor will also tell you after the examination how many visits you will need.
When is general anaesthesia needed?
In this section, general anaesthesia is listed only for rectal prolapse surgery. For perianal abscess and fistula treatment, the clinic lists local anaesthesia or brief sedation; the other procedures in this section are done under local anaesthesia.
I have severe pain and a fever. Is this urgent?
Increasing pain around the anus together with a fever is a reason to see a doctor without delay, wherever you are, because this is typical of an acute perianal abscess. Treatment of an acute perianal abscess costs from USD 246 and of an anal fistula (chronic perianal abscess) from USD 364; the procedure takes 30 to 60 minutes.

Not sure where to start?

Leave a request and we will pass it to the proctologist; the clinic will then contact you to agree on the format: a remote consultation from USD 18 or an in-person appointment with an examination. The clinic’s team communicates with international patients in English.
