Prices in the “Ukraine” column come from MediUkraine’s partner clinics. The Czech Republic and Turkey columns show the lower bounds of prices published by clinics there (for Turkey, also the Turkish Dental Association’s recommended 2026 tariff), collected in August 2026 and converted to US dollars at the rate on the day of collection. A dash means we could not find a comparable published price. In any country, the final cost is set by the clinic after an examination.
Polyps are growths of swollen mucosa that form in the paranasal sinuses with long-standing inflammation and gradually descend into the nasal passages. Medicines can shrink them, but once they have blocked the passage, removal is needed. The endoscope gives the surgeon a magnified image of the sinus openings, areas that are hard to reach without a camera, so the instrument works precisely, within the affected tissue.
The doctor decides the scope of surgery: from partial removal of single polyps to complete clearance of the nasal passages and sinuses. There are no external incisions: the instruments are inserted through the nostrils, so blood loss is small and rehabilitation is short. Within a few days patients usually return to their normal routine, with less congestion and fewer headaches, and the sense of smell often improves.
During endoscopic nasal polyp removal the surgeon does not touch healthy tissue: only polyp tissue is removed from the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. If indicated, the procedure is combined with rinsing or laser or radiofrequency treatment of the mucosa. In most cases you spend a few hours or one day at the clinic.
Polyposis is a common chronic ENT condition that often goes hand in hand with sinusitis, allergic reactions and loss of smell. An ENT examination shows how many growths there really are and how much they block the nasal passages: this determines whether medicines will be enough or whether it is time to plan surgery.
Travel. Ukrainian airspace is closed, so there are no commercial flights. Uzhhorod lies right on the border with Slovakia and close to Hungary, so patients usually arrive overland from one of these two countries, by car, bus or train.
Visas. Citizens of the EU, the United Kingdom and the United States do not need a visa for short stays in Ukraine. Rules depend on your citizenship, so check your own before booking.
Safety, plainly. Ukraine is at war. Air raid alerts occur across the country, including in Uzhhorod, and an appointment can be interrupted by one. Several governments advise against travel to Ukraine, and while that advice stands, ordinary travel and medical insurance is often void — confirm your cover with your insurer before you commit to anything.
Language. MediUkraine handles correspondence, scheduling, the written treatment plan and the quote in English. The clinic's team communicates with international patients in English.
Payment. You pay the clinic directly. Our coordination service is free of charge for you.

The method is chosen individually, based on the size and location of the polyps, how often they recur and your general health. There are two strategies: conservative therapy (anti-inflammatory and steroid medicines) and surgical removal, mostly endoscopic. Surgery is considered for difficulty breathing through the nose, chronic sinusitis, loss of smell or when medicines have stopped working.
The core procedure for endoscopic nasal polyp removal is functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS): under camera guidance, the surgeon removes polyp tissue without touching healthy areas of mucosa. This gives precision, little blood loss and quick recovery of breathing.
Some clinics offer laser removal of nasal polyps on an outpatient basis, without incisions or stitches. The laser seals blood vessels, so bleeding is less likely. This option suits patients with small single polyps.
Another tool is radiofrequency surgery: the affected tissue is gently vaporised with little heating of the neighbouring structures. It may be used in selected cases, as the doctor decides.
When polyps are combined with a deviated septum or chronic inflammation, a combined procedure is performed: FESS together with septoplasty. An endoscopic examination and CT images will show which option is appropriate in your case.
Endoscopic nasal polyp removal does not end in the operating theatre: post-operative follow-up is needed to stop the growths from coming back. In the first days slight congestion, swelling and mild discomfort in the nose are possible: this is a natural reaction of the tissues. Breathing recovers gradually, over 5–10 days. During this period avoid physical exertion, hot baths and sudden changes in temperature.
For the first few days do not blow your nose, so as not to damage the mucosa. On the doctor's instructions, rinse the nose with saline solutions or use antiseptic sprays. Do not start using drops or sprays on your own without consulting an ENT doctor.
Returning to work depends on its nature: 2–3 days is enough for desk work, and up to a week for more active work. The mucosa heals completely in about 2 weeks. The doctor schedules a follow-up visit to assess healing and spot any regrowth of polyps in time.
Keep the air humid, drink enough water and stay away from dust and allergens. If there is heavy bleeding, pain or a raised temperature, contact the clinic promptly. Come to the follow-up visit even if your breathing has fully recovered.
The aim of the operation is not only to remove the growths but also to restore natural nasal breathing, ventilation of the sinuses and the sense of smell. For patients with chronic sinusitis, allergies or long-standing inflammation of the mucosa, it is important that the technique works without injuring healthy tissue; the endoscopic approach achieves this without incisions.
Before surgery the doctor usually orders a CT scan, an endoscopic examination and laboratory tests to assess the extent of the changes in the mucosa. If polyposis is driven by allergy or another ENT condition, surgery is combined with medicines; otherwise the growths come back.
Not everyone needs surgery, and not straight away. When the polyps are small and breathing is partly preserved, the doctor may suggest conservative treatment with regular monitoring. The decision is made based on endoscopy, CT and an assessment of nasal breathing function.
When planning endoscopic nasal polyp removal, count not only the price of the operation itself but also related costs: consultations, diagnostics, accommodation, medicines and post-operative care. In Ukraine the total usually comes out lower: all stages, from examination to follow-up visit, take place at one medical centre, and the hospital stay lasts 1 day or is not needed at all.
There are several reasons. First, the cost of medical services (premises, consumables, staff pay) is noticeably lower than in EU countries or Turkey. Second, competition between private clinics pushes them to show transparent packages with no hidden costs. Third, minimally invasive techniques shorten recovery and therefore the costs of the hospital stay and medicines.
The lower price does not mean lower standards: clinics work to international standards and maintain sterility, infection control and professional anaesthetic support. Experienced ENT surgeons perform endoscopic operations routinely, so the result is predictable and the complication rate is low.
Private clinics in Ukraine work to European standards: full anaesthetic support, strict infection control and post-operative monitoring. The procedure is performed routinely, on an outpatient basis or with a short hospital stay, under the guidance of a modern video endoscopy system. The camera image shows the surgeon the boundaries of the affected tissue, so the risk of complications and blood loss remain low.
Most facilities have specialised ENT surgeons and a full set of equipment for diagnostics, surgery and post-operative care, all in one place. You receive an individual treatment plan with a predictable result.
When choosing a clinic, look at the doctor's experience, the number of endoscopic procedures performed, patient reviews, the equipment, real treatment results, the speed of communication and whether prices are clearly justified.

📍 Uzhhorod, Ukraine
A multidisciplinary hospital in Uzhhorod, part of a network of medical facilities in western Ukraine: an outpatient clinic, a surgical centre covering 15 specialties and a 30-bed inpatient unit. Its 52 doctors include professors and PhDs; many operations are done as day surgery, with discharge after 1–2 days.
It is a minimally invasive operation in which the doctor uses an endoscope to remove polyps from the nasal passages and paranasal sinuses without external incisions. The procedure is performed under local or general anaesthesia and takes 30–60 minutes. Afterwards nasal breathing is restored, inflammation subsides and sinusitis recurs less often.
The price in Ukraine starts from USD 242, noticeably less than at clinics in the EU or Turkey. The final amount depends on the complexity of the case, the type of anaesthesia and the scope of post-operative follow-up.
Most patients from European countries, the UK, Israel and Canada do not need a visa for short-term treatment. Entry rules can change, so check the current requirements for your citizenship before the trip; MediUkraine can help you plan the trip and prepare your medical documents.
The indications for surgery are chronic congestion, loss of smell, frequent maxillary sinusitis or medicines that have stopped working. The final decision is made by the doctor after a consultation, an endoscopic examination and a CT scan of the sinuses.
Besides endoscopic surgery, laser or radiofrequency removal of polyps is used, as well as conservative therapy: steroid sprays, anti-inflammatory medicines and allergy management. The choice depends on the size and location of the growths.
Usually 5–10 days. During this time rinse the nose with saline solutions and avoid physical exertion, hot baths and getting chilled. Patients return to desk work after 2–3 days and to more active work after about a week. The mucosa heals completely in 2 weeks.
Surgery alone cannot rule out recurrence, but with proper post-operative therapy and control of allergic or inflammatory factors the risk of recurrence is significantly lower. Check-ups with an ENT specialist twice a year help keep breathing free for a long time.
