Prices in the “Ukraine” column come from MediUkraine’s partner clinics. The Czech Republic and Turkey columns show the lower bounds of prices published by clinics there (for Turkey, also the Turkish Dental Association’s recommended 2026 tariff), collected in August 2026 and converted to US dollars at the rate on the day of collection. A dash means we could not find a comparable published price. In any country, the final cost is set by the clinic after an examination.
The nasal septum is made of cartilage and a thin plate of bone and divides the nasal cavity into two halves. When it is shifted or deformed, air flows unevenly: one nasal passage narrows, its mucosa dries out, and ventilation of the paranasal sinuses gets worse. This leads to chronic congestion, snoring, headaches and recurrent sinusitis that does not go away with drops. The deviation itself may be congenital or develop after a nose injury.
The main advantage of septoplasty is that it causes little tissue trauma. The surgeon works through the nasal passages, without external incisions, so blood loss is minimal and the risk of complications is lower. Most patients return to normal life 7–10 days after the procedure. Depending on the degree of deviation and the condition of the mucosa, the doctor chooses a conventional or an endoscopic technique.
During the operation the surgeon corrects or removes the deformed parts of the septal cartilage or bone without damaging healthy structures. If needed, the procedure is combined with rhinoplasty or endoscopic sinus surgery. Precise instruments make it possible to preserve the natural shape of the nose.
It is one of the most common ENT operations, with consistently good results. Besides freer breathing, patients usually have fewer respiratory infections, calmer sleep and better well-being. The next step is a consultation with an ENT surgeon with an endoscopic examination of the nasal cavity: without it, the degree of deviation and the need for surgery cannot be determined.
Travel. Ukrainian airspace is closed, so there are no commercial flights. Uzhhorod lies right on the border with Slovakia and close to Hungary, so patients usually arrive overland from one of these two countries, by car, bus or train.
Visas. Citizens of the EU, the United Kingdom and the United States do not need a visa for short stays in Ukraine. Rules depend on your citizenship, so check your own before booking.
Safety, plainly. Ukraine is at war. Air raid alerts occur across the country, including in Uzhhorod, and an appointment can be interrupted by one. Several governments advise against travel to Ukraine, and while that advice stands, ordinary travel and medical insurance is often void — confirm your cover with your insurer before you commit to anything.
Language. MediUkraine handles correspondence, scheduling, the written treatment plan and the quote in English. The clinic's team communicates with international patients in English.
Payment. You pay the clinic directly. Our coordination service is free of charge for you.

The method of septum correction is chosen individually, taking into account the degree of deviation, your age, anatomical features and related breathing problems. The main options are the conventional (open) and the endoscopic technique. In complex cases the procedure is combined with rhinoplasty or endoscopic sinus surgery.
In Ukraine endoscopic septoplasty is performed most often: a minimally invasive method in which the surgeon corrects or removes deformed areas of the cartilage or bony septum through the nasal passages. This approach gives precision, minimal blood loss, quick healing of the mucosa and no external scars. Patients usually return to normal life after 7–10 days.
The second option is laser septoplasty: the doctor vaporises or cuts the deformed tissue with laser energy. It takes about 30–40 minutes, is done under local anaesthesia and needs no hospital stay, and changes in breathing are felt within the first weeks. The method is suitable for patients with a slight deviation of the septum.
For complex anatomy or combined defects, the conventional technique is chosen: a procedure with minimal access under general anaesthesia. Even with this approach the surgeon works precisely, preserving the natural shape of the nose and a stable functional result.
Septum correction does not end in the operating theatre: next comes a period of healing of the mucosa, supervised by the doctor. In the first days slight swelling, minor bloody discharge or a blocked feeling in the nose are possible: this is a normal reaction to surgery. Breathing gradually improves, but for the first two weeks avoid physical exertion, bending forward sharply and overheating.
You can usually drive and return to work or study after 5–7 days if you feel well. For those whose work involves physical exertion, recovery may take 2–3 weeks. The doctor makes the final decision about activity at the follow-up visit.
It is important to protect the nose from injury, not to blow your nose hard and to sleep on your back with your head raised. Drink more water, eat a balanced diet, avoid saunas and swimming pools and do not drink alcohol.
If you develop a temperature, the pain gets worse, or heavy bleeding or sudden swelling appears, contact the clinic promptly for an examination. The surgeon sets the date of the next planned check-up on discharge: at this visit the healing of the mucosa is assessed and the recommendations are adjusted.
A deviated septum is not just an anatomical defect. It comes with recurrent inflammation, poor sleep and chronic fatigue. That is why, for a person with a constantly blocked nose or snoring, the operation is a functional rather than an aesthetic decision: it restores comfortable breathing and normal night-time rest.
The method is chosen individually. Before surgery the doctor performs rhinoscopy and a CT or MRI scan and assesses the condition of the mucosa, the shape of the septum and any polyps or inflammation. In complex cases a combined procedure is advised: septoplasty with simultaneous correction of the turbinates or endoscopic sinus surgery.
Not everyone needs surgery. With a slight deviation, the doctor may prescribe anti-inflammatory sprays, saline solutions and physiotherapy. The final decision is made after examination and analysis of the test results, based on your particular needs.
When planning surgery on the nasal septum, count not only the price of the operation itself but also related costs: accommodation, consultations, tests, medicines and post-operative care. In Ukraine treatment is mostly more cost-effective: all stages, from diagnostics to rehabilitation, take place at one centre, and the hospital stay lasts no more than 1–2 days.
Why are prices lower in Ukraine? First, the cost of medical services (premises, consumables, staff salaries) is noticeably lower than in EU countries or Turkey. Second, competition between private clinics pushes them to create transparent package offers with no hidden costs. Third, minimally invasive techniques shorten the hospital stay, and this directly affects the final amount.
The lower price does not mean lower standards: private clinics follow international protocols and provide sterility, anaesthetic support and full post-operative monitoring. Experienced ENT surgeons perform endoscopic operations routinely, and the predictability of the result comes from well-practised technique and checks at every stage.
Like any surgery, it carries some risk, but septoplasty in Ukraine is performed to European standards, and the risks are controlled. At private clinics you receive full anaesthetic support, strict infection control, a sterile operating theatre and careful monitoring in the post-operative period.
The procedure is performed endoscopically through the nose, without external incisions, so tissue trauma and the risk of complications are low. Thanks to precise equipment and the experience of ENT surgeons, breathing usually starts to improve within a few days after surgery.
Most Ukrainian clinics have modern operating theatres, an internal quality control system and specialised rhinologists. It is this control, from preparation to discharge, that makes the result predictable.
When choosing a clinic, look at the doctor's experience, the number of successful operations, patient reviews and the transparency of the quote. MediUkraine arranges treatment at the partner clinic in Uzhhorod, which works to international protocols, with clear communication and fair pricing with no hidden costs.

📍 Uzhhorod, Ukraine
A multidisciplinary hospital in Uzhhorod, part of a network of medical facilities in western Ukraine: an outpatient clinic, a surgical centre covering 15 specialties and a 30-bed inpatient unit. Its 52 doctors include professors and PhDs; many operations are done as day surgery, with discharge after 1–2 days.
Septoplasty is a surgical procedure to correct a deviated nasal septum that interferes with normal breathing. The operation restores patency of the nasal passages, and snoring, congestion and frequent sinusitis often ease along with it. It is performed endoscopically, without external incisions, under general or local anaesthesia.
Septoplasty in Ukraine costs from USD 244, while in the EU or Turkey the price reaches USD 3,500–5,000. The final amount depends on the complexity of the deviation, the clinic, the type of anaesthesia and the scope of post-operative care.
Most patients from European countries do not need a visa to enter Ukraine. Entry rules depend on your citizenship and can change, so check the current requirements before the trip.
The operation is recommended for people who suffer from constant nasal congestion, difficulty breathing, snoring, frequent maxillary sinusitis or headaches. The final decision is made by the doctor after an examination, rhinoscopy or CT. If the deviation is slight, conservative treatment is possible.
In Ukraine the following are used:
Conventional endoscopic septoplasty: through the nose, without external stitches.
Laser septoplasty: a less invasive option for minor deviations.
Combined correction: together with turbinoplasty (reduction of the turbinates).
The doctor determines which method suits you at the consultation, based on the examination results.
After the operation you usually stay at the clinic for 1–2 days, and full recovery takes about 2–3 weeks. Breathing becomes easier within a few days, and the final effect is visible once the swelling of the mucosa has gone down. Avoid physical exertion and overheating for a month.
Yes. After the operation nasal breathing normalises, snoring and headaches usually ease, and sleep, concentration and general well-being improve. Patients often report more energy and fewer colds after the procedure.
